Only 25% of Maine adults eat the recommended five servings of fruits and vegetables daily.

Only 25% of Maine high school students eat the recommended five servings of fruits and vegetables daily.

56% of Maine adults are either overweight or obese.

10% of Maine high school students are overweight and 15% are at risk for becoming overweight.

In 1999, Aroostook County had 329 deaths due to cardiovascular disease; 152 men and 177 women.

The goal of the Partnership for a Healthy Community is to change attitudes about nutrition and to encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Nutrition For Kids -  handouts, stickers, teaching kits, as well as recipes and tips.

Eat Smart and Move More - A great link for educators and community. New ideas and tips on how to eat smart and move more.

Cooking Light - will help plan a menu, weekly newsletter and recipes.

National Cancer Institute - goals are to increase the average consumption of fruits and vegetables to 5 servings daily with specific information and by increasing the public awareness.
